In 2011, Lee and Christine Grable, their two boys, Will and Charlie, and the family beagle, Annie, sold their house in Austin and moved to Aspen, Colorado. The original plan had been to head to Dallas, but the family decided to take advantage of having young children and being “untethered” in order to have a family adventure.  Lee continued his law practice from Colorado, and it was a great bonding experience.

It was also a time of valuable professional development.  Specifically, Lee found that his Texas clients did not care at all where he lived, as long as he was responsive and did quality work for a reasonable fee.  The takeaway was that if he could operate a Texas-based law practice from Colorado, a firm could certainly operate without expensive Class A office space or a large support staff.

Prior to moving back to Dallas in 2013, Lee reached out to his long-time colleague, Shauna Martin, about starting a new type of law firm. In addition to having worked at large law firms, Shauna and Lee had both served as General Counsel for emerging companies, so they were comfortable leveraging technology to operate without all of the unnecessary frills of the typical old school law firm. Therefore, they decided that the new firm would be a lean, light footprint, low overhead model to keep expenses down, but with top-tier attorneys to maintain quality. Grable Martin began serving clients in the summer of 2013!

The firm’s streamlined delivery model allows us to be efficient and cost-effective.  We also have the flexibility to consider fixed-fee and other alternative billing arrangements.

One of the main concepts from the beginning was to recruit and add other top flight lawyers who had a business mindset and were looking for a better way to serve their clients.  We have had significant success attracting top talent, and the firm now consists of over 25 lawyers in a variety of practice areas.

Our lawyers include alumni of some of the country’s largest firms, former General Counsels and high level in-house attorneys.  Clients have direct access to partner-level attorneys who are used to being responsive and handling quick turn-around requirements.  Our business experience is a significant asset to our clients, and we make it a point to listen to our clients’ goals and objectives.
